Introduction

Let’s take a step back in time to explore the stages of internet evolution, from its humble beginnings to today’s world of high-speed connections and artificial intelligence.


1960s: The Beginnings

The idea of the internet started with a U.S. government project called ARPANET. Its goal was to connect computers at major universities and research centers to allow fast information sharing. In 1969, the first message was sent between two computers at UCLA and Stanford Research Institute.


1970s: Networks and Protocols

In the 1970s, the concept of protocols emerged, allowing different systems to communicate over a unified network. The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP) were developed, creating a foundation for connecting devices globally.


1980s: The Global Network Takes Shape

In 1983, the internet officially adopted the TCP/IP protocol, making it more stable and flexible. By the late 1980s, Tim Berners-Lee introduced the concept of the World Wide Web, allowing information sharing through web pages and sites.


1990s: The Internet Boom

The 1990s saw the internet’s expansion, marked by the launch of the World Wide Web. With the emergence of early web browsers like Netscape, more people began exploring the internet. By the mid-90s, it had become a global phenomenon, reaching millions worldwide.


2000s: Broadband and Social Media

In the early 2000s, broadband technology made the internet faster and more accessible. With higher speeds, services like online video and social media began to flourish, giving rise to platforms like Facebook and YouTube and creating an interconnected world.

The past decade has seen breakthroughs in internet technology, including 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT), connecting devices in smart, efficient ways. Artificial intelligence has integrated with the internet, enabling personalized experiences for users. Today, the internet influences nearly every part of our daily lives.

  Today we will talk about creativity in inventing writing.   In my view, one of the most creative moments that changed the course of humanity was the invention of writing.  This innovation changed the course of communication and knowledge transfer, allowing ideas, laws, history, and science to be documented across generations.  Before writing, knowledge was transmitted orally, which limited the amount of information that could be stored and shared.
